Artisan's Remodel Process

Generally there are three sequential appointments that drive a remodel process: the consultation, the measure and the review.

The consultation consists of material selection and coordination at Artisan’s interactive showroom with a designer. During our meeting we will discuss the scope of your project and the numerous lines of cabinetry, countertops and appliances we offer. We will walk you through the design process and the steps involved in your kitchen or bath remodel.

The measure takes place in your home where we’ll take all necessary measurements of your space to transcribe into our 3D space planning software. We will bring samples of the materials chosen at the consultation to view in your surroundings. We’ll begin to explore potential layout options and answer any general space planning questions you may have.

The review is done in the Artisan showroom where we will go over layout options and pricing. Our program will create 3D renderings for you to view your potential space. If you’d like to take home plans and perspectives, a retainer equaling 5% of the projected cabinetry cost is due and applied to your account.

There may be a couple of weeks between each appointment. Once all revisions and value engineering are complete, a final set of construction documents complete with specifications are presented for approval. A final meeting on site with your contractor is strongly encouraged. To place your order, a 50% deposit is required with the remainder due on delivery. It is important to note that all cabinetry and materials are sourced specifically for your project and that all sales are final.

Most Common Questions

We will work with you to create a beautiful, functional space based on your desires and your lifestyle.

Why do I need to have a consultation before a measure? Before we get started it’s important to make sure Artisan has a cabinet style you like. Each cabinet line has different modifications, upgrades and options -some of which may be better suited to your project- making it important to know prior to working up a drawing and quote for your space. There is no “generic” way to draw a kitchen unless it is unique to your selections.

What if I don’t have a contractor? Artisan does not employ installers; however we have a number of reliable contractors we use on a regular basis for our projects. We allow you the opportunity to provide and/or interview the contractor that best suits your project.

How long does a kitchen remodel take? Depending on the scope of work involved and the scale of the project, a remodel can take anywhere from a 4 to 8 weeks or more. This depends on the selection of material and the availability of the product. It is also important to get a timeline from your contractor.

How much does a kitchen or bathroom remodel cost? There is no “average” kitchen or bathroom cost, though many fall within the 10K-100K range. Your total cost is determined by what you feel comfortable spending, and Artisan has products for every budget!

How long are cabinet lead times? Depending on cabinet line and time of year, lead time is often 3-8 weeks.

How do payments work? In most cases we require a ½ deposit upfront for all items placed on order and the remainder upon delivery or pickup. Artisan also offers a range of financing options for those who wish to make monthly payments.

Can I take plans and drawings home with me? Yes! Artisan is proud to have the most creative designers in WNY, so it’s no surprise that we value our unique work products. To take plans and perspective images home we require a retainer equaling 5% of your total cabinet cost (with a $500 minimum). This retainer comes off your cabinet total and you have 6 months to apply this credit on a cabinet purchase. Taking plans home also allows designers to email you revisions, send out copies to installers for quoting and update renderings.

What materials can artisan provide? Artisan is happy to help select and provide cabinets, countertops, hardware, plumbing and appliances. We also have options available for select seating, flooring and lighting. Many of our designers can also assist in selection of outside materials such as wall color and accent pieces.

What happens after my cabinets and other items arrive? Artisan may hold cabinets and other materials in our warehouse for up to two weeks. We offer curbside or garage delivery at no cost.

Can any items be returned? Artisan sources products specific to each project making them nonstock/special order. These pieces, including but not limited to cabinets, fixtures and appliances, may not be returned.

Do you sell only countertops? Yes. Artisan works with almost every fabricator in Western New York. We have many samples on hand in our showroom and we can also arrange for you to view the slabs you will be purchasing. Once your order is placed the countertop fabricator can template for your tops when your cabinets are fully secured and installed. Within approximately two weeks your countertop will be ready for installation. Sinks, faucets and appliances should be on site at the time of template to avoid any delays in installation.

Will my countertops have seams? Depending on the material chosen and the layout required, seams will be visible and as inconspicuous as our fabricators can make them. Some materials like Solid Surface Acrylic will have nearly invisible seams because of the manufactured nature of the product. Countertops with busier patterns will almost always have a visible seam.
