A pastoral parcel in Hamburg, New York, this newly built log-cabin-style domicile is home to an empty-nester couple whose family visits often. Warm and welcoming, the nature-inspired domicile telegraphs an organic appeal, and the owners wanted their kitchen to mirror that aesthetic. To that end, they called on Artisan Kitchens and Baths.
Topping the must-do queue: marrying the various woods—the flooring, cabinetry, and white pine logs exposed house-wide—in a visually appealing way. In addition, the clients wanted a comfortable-height island to serve as a baking/prep area. But they also needed the island to be portable so they could move it out of the way to carve out more real estate for guests. Brocculeri’s ingenious resolution: a 39-inch-tall custom-crafted piece that locks into place and, when unlocked, can be tucked away.
Another custom piece in the compilation: the matching natural cherry wood farm sink base, a rustic-looking component that unites flawlessly with the recycled barn-wood floor. And all of these rough-hewn elements are unifi ed via the white pine backsplash and birch wood cabinets. The result? A new kitchen that’s a nod to a bygone era with all the comforts of today.
